Biography.

Mike Read is co-opted to the GDA as the Health and Social Care representative. Mike strengthens the Social Policy Group, which includes Catherine Hall as Education lead, and  Rob Harnish as transport lead.

Married, father of 3 girls and 1 boy. Mike grew up and went to school in Guernsey before leaving to joining the RAF and a career flying. He moved his family back to Guernsey in 2000 and now works as a pilot for Aurigny.

Mike is president of Cystic Fibrosis Guernsey and chair of Health Equality for All (HEAL) which represents local people who have struggled to access timely health care, particularly drugs and treatments.

“The human right to health care means that hospitals, clinics, medicines, and doctors’ services must be accessible, available and of good quality for everyone, on an equitable basis, where and when needed. Too often they are not, even in Guernsey. With your help I’d like to challenge the system to meet these expectations for everyone.”
