Biography.

Toni de Kooker

Toni was unfortunately born in Jersey, but moved to Guernsey when she was 8 to be with her adopted family. She spent her final year in Jersey living in Jersey Zoo – her love of animals continues as she owns four cats and a dog.

She was educated at Vale Junior School, St. Sampson’s High School, and sat the International Baccalaureate at Grammar School Sixth Form Centre to then go on and study her Certified Accounting Technician qualification, and later to complete ACCA with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, gaining her accounting charter. Toni also holds MCSI from the Institute of Securities and Investment, a bachelor’s degree in science with honours in accounting from Oxford Brookes University, and completed a master’s degree in science in accounting from the University of London in December 2020. Toni is also an affiliate of the Society of Estate and Trust Practitioners.

Toni is a Co-Coordinating Group Committee Member of the Guernsey MS Society. Toni has been the GDA’s Treasurer since January 2022 and is now also the Chair of the GDA following her election in February 2023.

In her free time, Toni thoroughly enjoys painting, drawing and writing. She spends most of it with a book or paintbrush in her hand, and really struggles to sit and do nothing! She loves learning new things, and is always keen to get her hands dirty.

Toni’s passion for helping others extends beyond her responsibilities at the GDA, and she spends a significant amount of time focusing on accounting and financial issues faced by third sector organisations. Holding ACCA, a Bachelor’s with honours and Master’s degree in accounting, and ongoing work towards a doctorate degree, Toni brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role of chairperson in terms of corporate governance and financial management.

A lifelong resident within the Channel Islands, Toni has seen first-hand the difficulties that individuals with disabilities face in our society. This has motivated her to work tirelessly towards justice, anti-discrimination, and equality for all, improving the standard of care and opportunity available to those impacted by disability and related causes.

At only 26, Toni is excited to bring a fresh perspective and new energy to the GDA. She is committed to open communication with our members and welcomes ideas and concerns, which she will work to address with action and advocacy.

Toni was our Hon. Treasurer GDA Hon Treasurer – Oct 2020  before being elected Chair of the GDA at the AGM in February 2023.
