We welcome Mike Read as a co-optee to the GDA executive committee as the Health sector representative. Mike strengthens the Social Policy team, which includes Catherine Hall as Education representative, Arrun Wilkie, Rob Harnish and Rob Platts.

Married, father of 3 girls and 1 boy. Mike grew up and went to school in Guernsey before leaving to joining the RAF and a career flying. He moved his family back to Guernsey in 2000 and now works as a commercial airline pilot for Cathay Pacific. Mike is president of Cystic Fibrosis Guernsey and chair of Health Equality for All (HEAL) which represents local people who have struggled to access timely health care, particularly drugs and treatments.

“The human right to health care means that hospitals, clinics, medicines, and doctors’ services must be accessible, available and of good quality for everyone, on an equitable basis, where and when needed. Too often they are not, even in Guernsey. With your help I’d like to challenge the system to meet these expectations for everyone.”
