The consultation on the Sex Discrimination Ordinance is now live on the States of Guernsey website.
It can be accessed at:www.gov.gg/sexdiscrimination
The Committee for Employment & Social Security has launched a consultation seeking feedback from employees who have witnessed or experienced sex discrimination, and employers, HR professionals and lawyers who are familiar with the Sex Discrimination Ordinance through their work.
On 5 June 2018 the States of Guernsey agreed to develop proposals for new multi-ground discrimination legislation. Guernsey currently has one piece of discrimination legislation – the Sex Discrimination (Employment) (Guernsey) Ordinance, 2005. The Ordinance prohibits discrimination in employment on the grounds of sex, gender reassignment and being married. The Committee is considering repealing this legislation and incorporating relevant parts of it into the new legislation.
The Committee wants to learn more about people’s experience of using the Ordinance.
The consultation is available at www.gov.gg/sexdiscrimination and will close on 26 October 2018.
