Use your leadership skills to change how Guernsey thinks about disability
The Guernsey Disability Alliance LBG is looking for a Chair of Trustees to guide both its Executive Committee and its dynamic new Executive Director through the next stage of its rapid development.
This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an experienced and capable professional to use their leadership and governance skills to benefit the community.
The GDA brings together more than 30 local disability charities, plus individual disabled people and carers, to change how Guernsey thinks about disability and achieve greater equality of opportunity.
The GDA is a pioneer in the development of social policy in the island and works closely with the States of Guernsey and the Guernsey Community Foundation.
Responsibilities will include:
• leading the Executive Committee
• line managing and supporting the Executive Director
• setting strategic direction and maintaining focus
• ensuring financial viability and good governance
• being an ambassador
This is voluntary role with flexible hours. The time commitment is likely to average six hours a week.
The GDA is a rights-based organisation and therefore a personal belief in equality of opportunity is essential. Experience of disability, either personally or professionally, is welcome but not mandatory.
The recruitment of a formal Chair of Trustees is part of the GDA’s Five Year Plan to ensure sustainability in the long-term. Once the new Chair is recruited, the existing Chair will move to an advisory role.
