The Guernsey Sports Commission hosted their first Autism awareness training last month. The session was organised by the Guernsey Community Foundation and the Guernsey Sports Commission, and was delivered by Catherine Hall of the National Autistic Society – Guernsey Branch. Over 70 people attended, including coaches from a range of different sports, which included netball, judo, racketball, sailing, fencing, cricket, riding and football. The workshop also attracted a number of representatives from pre-schools who were looking to learn more about autism. The level of interest has been overwhelming and the Sports Commission are planning to run a similar event in the near future. You can register your interest by emailing [safe_email]info@guernseysports.com[/safe_email].
