The Social Policy Group (part of Policy Council) is creating a Steering Group which will have day-to-day responsibility for ensuring the Disability and Inclusion Strategy is implemented.
The Group will have two Co-Chairs.  One will be Jane Stephens.  And the other will be the new States’ Champion for Disabled People, when appointed.
This marks a welcome return – Jane was the original Disability Champion from 2009 to 2012.  Her most notable achievements included keeping the annual increase for Invalidity Benefit at the same rate as other benefits (when Social Security tried to reduce it) and pushing for the appointment of a Disability Officer.
